Pairing a young female with an older male, any real downside?
Got a 14 month old male who's thrown two good spawns and a female about 5 months. She's barred up nicely and rounds out on live food. Is it better to wait until she's older or is that age fine if she's well conditioned? Mostly worried about egg binding.

5 months is fine if she's holding weight and carrying eggs. I'd wait on the really young ones, but the bigger risk is the male being rough, so keep that cover in the tub.
Related question from the livebearer side, does a young female holding weight make a big difference in how rough the male gets, or is it mostly the cover that matters?
Mostly the cover and pulling the male once she's wrapped. A heavier female can take a few shoves better, but a determined male will still shred a thin one.
