That's a good sign, coming to the front for food after twenty minutes. Keep the lights low for the first couple of days and they'll settle fast.

nice, I'm doing the dark background thing on my guppy tub this week too. Hope mine are as quick to calm down

Twenty minutes hanging at the surface and then coming to the glass for food is about the best first night you can ask for. Curious how the color looks after a few days of the dark back glass.

Will post a pic on day 3. Colors usually darken a bit when they feel covered, so I'm hoping for that.

Day 3 pic will be fun to see. Black on the back glass really does bring the color out on discus.

day 3 pic is going to be good, discus really do color up when the glass behind them is dark. how often are you planning the big changes?

daily for now, about 50 percent each evening. i'll drop to every other day once they're eating hard and growing steady.

daily 50 percent on discus is the way, mine eat harder and color faster with that schedule. just keep the bucket temp matched like the thread said.
