Thread on tap water vs RO for moss, anyone notice a difference?
I've always grown my moss in straight tap water and it does fine, but a friend swears RO remineralized gives tighter growth. Pic below of two tubs side by side, same light and same trim date. Honestly I can't see much difference yet but it's only been ten days. Anyone actually run a comparison?

I run tap on everything and the moss never complained. Only thing I'd watch is algae if your tap has high phosphate, that's where RO helps me.
My shrimp racks are RO because tap swings too much here, but for moss alone I doubt you'd see a gap after ten days. Give it six weeks.
Phosphate is the one thing I'd test before blaming tap. Cheap test kit tells you in a minute whether RO is even worth the hassle.
Good point, I'll test the tap tonight. Tubs are in a bright window so algae would show up fast if phosphate is high.
tap phosphate test is worth it, mine reads about 1 ppm out of the faucet and that alone explained my green tubs. RO cut it way down.
