Hardscape laid out dry, how long do you play with it before adding water?
Spent most of tonight on a dry start layout with seiryu stone and a couple of branches. Pic below of where I'm at. I keep moving the main stone two inches left and then back again. Do you commit on day one or live with it dry for a few days first? Tank is going to be a low tech slope toward the left.

I leave it dry for a couple of days and take photos from the front each night. Phone pic shows balance issues your eyes miss when you're standing over it.
the photo trick works. also fill it slowly with a plate on the substrate or the stone will shift on you.
I commit the big stone early and let the small pieces float around it. Moving the anchor stone is what makes me second guess everything. Also the slope toward the left means your eye will want something light on the right, so check that in the photo.
good point on the right side, that's what the photos kept showing me. a small branch tip on the right might fix it without adding another stone.
a branch tip on the right sounds right. I'd take one more photo after placing it, the phone is weirdly honest about balance.
