Rotala bundles trimmed tonight, how do you keep the cut tops from melting in transit?
Cut about 30 stems off the rescape tank this evening for the next bundle order. Last time a couple of buyers said the cut ends went mushy after 3 days in the box. I wrap in damp paper and a bag with a little air, no standing water. Anyone have a better method, or is it just luck with the shipping days?

I'd cut a fresh end on arrival before planting, always. Rotala tips handle damp paper fine for 2 to 3 days but the old cut end will go soft no matter what you do.
agree on recutting. i'd also keep the bag cool in the box and ship early in the week so it never sits over a weekend.
good point on shipping early in the week. i do ship mon to wed already, but the cool bag in the box is something i haven't been doing, will try it.
I also leave the bundle bagged with a bit of air and no loose water, wet stems rot at the cut faster than damp ones. Recut on arrival like mossboss said, then they take off.
same experience with wet vs damp, i do the same with floaters for bettas. a cool bag in the box helps a lot too.
cool bag trick is new to me too, i ship plecos in winter with heat packs but never thought about plants the other way round.
