Angel pair dropped eggs on the slate tonight, now what about the lights?
Well, finandfry's tip was right on time. Female laid this evening about an hour after I wrote my last thread. Pic below of the eggs on the slate right now, pair is guarding. Do you leave the tank lights off through the night or keep a dim one on so they can see the eggs? First clutch for these two so I'm nervous they'll eat them.

Dim light on is better for a first clutch, total darkness makes them panicky and they eat more. A small night light across the room is enough. Congrats, don't touch the slate.
agree, i'd also not worry if they fan and mouth the eggs a bit. first timers do that. nice one dan.
fanning started about twenty minutes ago, male is doing most of it. I'll keep the lights low and stay out of the room. thanks for the heads up on the white ones, would've panicked.
Congrats dan, hope they hold the whole clutch. Is the slate vertical or leaning? Always wondered which one the pairs seem to prefer.
Leaning slightly against the back glass, they cleaned the whole top half before laying. Eggs are still clear, will update when the wrigglers show.
Leaning against the back glass makes sense, mine always go for the least disturbed spot. Fingers crossed for wrigglers in a couple days.
Check the eggs in the morning, any that go white and fuzzy are infertile. Pair will usually eat those themselves, which is fine.
if they all go white by morning dont panic, first clutches from young pairs are often mostly infertile. the second one is usually way better.
seconding the second clutch thing, my first angel spawns were all white and the next round was nearly perfect. dan, if it happens don't read too much into it.
Eggs are still clear this morning, which I'm taking as a good sign. Pair is fanning in shifts and nobody's eaten anything so far. Lights stayed low all night.
clear eggs on day 2 is a great sign. keep the lights low like you did and i'd leave them alone till the wrigglers drop, nervous pairs sometimes eat at the last minute if anything spooks them.
Thanks inkfin, that's the plan. Not touching anything until I see tails.
Good luck dan. If the wrigglers drop and they move them, don't panic, just keep the light low and the water clean. Post tails when you see them.
