Bristlenose vs betta tank mates: anyone actually pulled it off in a 20 long?
Thinking of putting one of my young bristlenose in with a plakat male in a 20 long, planted with a lot of cover. Everything I read says pleco slime coat and bettas are fine unless the betta is a fin nipper, but I'd like to hear from people who've tried it. Is it worth the risk or should I keep them separate?

I'd skip it for halfmoons since the long fins get nipped by anything curious, but plakats are tougher. Short fin males usually ignore a bristlenose that stays on the wood. Just watch the first week for any slime coat grazing at night.
agree with inkfin. I've kept plenty of bristlenose with plakats and the pleco mostly hides all day. Just make sure the betta isn't one of the aggressive ones and keep a cave open for the pleco.
thanks both, that's what I hoped. I'll add an extra piece of wood and watch the first week before I commit to it.
