Red tiger lotus bulb sprouted, how shallow is shallow when planting?
Pic below of one of my sprouted lotus bulbs from this week's batch. I always plant with the top of the bulb exposed but a customer asked if it should be fully buried in sand. In a 29 gallon with fine sand, do you bury it halfway or just rest it on top and let the roots find their way down?

top of the bulb exposed, always. buried ones rot before they sprout, just pin it down with a small rock until the roots grab.
same here. i had one float up twice before it rooted, a small rock fixed that.
i ran into this with a different bulb type, and the half buried way worked for me in coarse sand but fine sand packs too tight. pete's right to ask though, 29 gal fine sand is a different story.
fair point reefwitch, fine sand does pack tight. i'll stick with resting it on top and a pin rock, those have rooted every time for me in the 29.
