Bristlenose fry flashlight check: bellies are round, do I start feeding more?

Did the flashlight peek after lights out like finandfry said. Counted at least a dozen fry grazing on the zucchini, bellies look round and a little orange. Pic below of the wafer I dropped in near the cave. Should I add more algae wafer now or keep it light so the 40 breeder doesn't foul? Still in with the parents so I'm wary of overdoing it.

brackishbabe round orange bellies is exactly what you want. keep it light, one small piece of wafer and pull the zucchini after a day. bump it up as they get bigger and start coming out in daylight.

finandfry agreed, and i'd add a sponge filter if you don't have one in the 40, the fry can't get sucked into it. mine grew faster once I stopped fretting about overfeeding and just siphoned.

riverina there's a sponge on the corner already, good call though. light feed and a siphon it is.

brackishbabe congrats on the first spawn too, a dozen visible fry is a great count. take pics when they finally start coming out in daylight!

brackishbabe agree with finandfry on the pulling zucchini after a day, it gets slimy fast in a warm tank. once they're out in daylight a pinch of crushed spirulina flake is good for them too.

brackishbabe nice work on the first spawn. my bristlenose fry took off once they were big enough to hit the wafer in daylight, you'll see it happen fast.
