Sword mother plants: how deep do you plant the crown?
Pulling a few big swords out of my 120 for the auction and it got me thinking about how many people bury the crown. Mine do best with the crown right at soil level and roots spread wide. What's everyone's method, and do you root tab before or after planting?

Crown just above the soil. Bury it and it rots within a few weeks. I push a tab next to the roots right after planting.
Same here. I lost two swords early on from burying them, now I leave the crown barely showing.
I plant crown at soil level too, but I rough up the roots a bit and let them fan out sideways. Tabs go in a few days after planting for me, so the roots aren't sitting in a fresh fertilizer pocket.
Good tip on waiting for the tabs. I've been pushing them in right away and my newer plants always sulk for a week or so.
