Sword auction at 18 bids, packing plan for the big boxes
auction ends in a few hours and i'm already staging boxes. thinking of lining the bottom with damp newspaper, bare root wrapped in paper, then a layer of bubble wrap on top so the leaves don't crush. anyone ship 30 leaf swords and have a better way to keep the outer leaves from tearing? pic below of the pile of boxes on the bench.

pete i fold the big outer leaves up along the midrib and roll the whole plant loosely in paper, then it goes in the box on its side. way less tearing than leaving them flat.
mossboss rolling them is smart, i'll try that on the smallest one first and see how it looks unwrapped.
pete don't overpack with wet paper, i lost a sword once to rot after a 3 day delay. damp not soggy.
riverina wrung out and then pressed in a towel, got it. the boxes ship early in the week so the delay risk should be low.
pete if you ship early in the week, throw a heat pack in anyway if it's cold where the box is going, october nights can bite.
cass good call on the heat pack. pete, bag the paper-wrapped root in a second bag too so any moisture stays off the leaves.
pete are you putting a crown depth card in every box or just the big ones? asking because i've had swords buried too deep by buyers and rot out the crown.
nightreef every box gets one, even the small ones. it's just a little index card saying leave the crown above the substrate line. saves me a lot of messages.
