Heat pack or no heat pack for a 2 day frag shipment in October?
Shipping a few zoa packs to the midwest this week and the forecast there is 40s at night. Packing in a rigid cup with newspaper insulation, but I keep going back and forth on whether a heat pack is worth the risk of cooking them in a warm truck. What are you doing for shipping frags in fall, 40g pack or skip it?

cass i always add a 40g in fall once nights hit the 40s, wrapped in newspaper so it never touches the cup. a cold frag recovers better than a cooked one though, so don't stack extra insulation on top of it.
reefwitch same. cass i'd also ship monday to wednesday only so nothing sits in a depot over the weekend, that matters more than the pack.
nightreef yep, mon to wed is the plan. 40g it is then, wrapped like reefwitch said, thanks both.
cass one more tip, write the ship date on the outside of the box so the carrier knows it's live. and keep an eye on the forecast for the delivery day too, not just the origin.
reefwitch good call, i'll mark it live on every side. forecast check on the receiving end is a good reminder, thanks.
