Swordtail dropped 37, how many do you keep vs cull?
She finally dropped this afternoon in the planted tub, 37 fry and they're all hiding in the floaters. Pic below of mom a few hours before. I raise for hobby prices so I don't want to cull too hard, but I only have so many tubs. Do you keep everything for the first month and sort later, or sort early?

I keep everything till about 3 weeks, then pull the obvious deformed ones and any with bent spines. Color sorting is easier at 6 to 8 weeks when the males start showing.
agree on waiting. early culling by color on swordtails is a coin flip, i'd only pull the real deformities and let the rest grow out.
37 is a lot of mouths for one tub. i'd keep floaters thick and do small daily water changes with old tank water, swordtail fry grow fast but they foul a tub quick.
good call pete, doing a little change every morning from the main tank. i already split the tub in two with a mesh divider so the bigger ones don't get ahead.
