leave her. moving a berried female stresses her and she can drop the eggs. with that much moss the shrimplets will be fine.

agree, mine never get moved. the only time i'd pull anyone is if there are fish in the tank.

yeah same with my frag tub shrimp, berried girls just get left alone. mossboss if you see the eggs go from green to clear with eyes you're a few days out from shrimplets.

thanks reefwitch, the saddle is still solid green so I'll check back in a week or so with the flashlight.

mossboss the flashlight trick works well, once the eggs show tiny eyes you'll see them through the saddle. i keep a red bulb so i'm not stressing the shrimp at night.

brackishbabe good idea on the red light, i'll try that. do you leave a bit of algae wafer in there for the babies or just let the biofilm in the moss do the work?

S ShrimpLord Oct 15, 2026 · 1:44 PM

mossboss i'd skip the wafer for now. the biofilm in the moss is plenty for the first couple weeks, extra food just fouls the tub and brings the snails.

makes sense shrimplord, biofilm only then. the tub is full of moss so it should be fine.

mossboss when the eggs are green they're fresh, so you've got a few weeks. mine take about 3 weeks at 22C before the shrimplets come out.

3 weeks at 22C matches mine too. cooler tubs just run a bit slower, mossboss if yours sits around 20 expect closer to a month.
