told you, hungry puffers cave. congrats, just don't give in and hand him a snail next week or you're back to day one.

nice, brine shrimp first worked. glad it didn't take the whole two weeks.

pete brine shrimp first is smart. brackishbabe, once he's eating reliably, mix in a couple different frozen foods early so he doesn't lock onto just one thing again.

discusdan agreed on the variety. i'd rotate in frozen cyclops or daphnia too, pea puffers get bored fast and then it's back to snail stalking.

shrimplord thanks, picked up some frozen cyclops this morning. he's already giving the daphnia the side eye, so we'll see.

brackishbabe daphnia side eye is normal, mine ignored it for days then suddenly inhaled it. soak it in a little garlic juice if he stays stubborn.

mossboss garlic works, i've soaked frozen foods for finicky puffers and it gets them going. just don't overdo it or the water gets funky.

nice work on the brine shrimp. if he gets bored again, a little live blackworm once a week keeps the hunting itch scratched without bringing snails back.

B BrackishBabe Oct 16, 2026 · 3:45 PM

discusdan good shout, blackworms are easy to keep too. i'll try a pinch on the weekend.

brackishbabe ha told you. the daphnia holdout is always the funniest part, they act so offended.

brackishbabe frozen brine plus a little live blackworm sounds like a solid rotation, my wife's pea puffer does the same offended act with anything new.
